Luxurious Tranquility
The Vila Bled Hotel, a former residence of President Tito, is a unique combination of being set in a magnificent 1.2 acre park on the shores of the lake, while only being a 20-minute lakeside stroll from the town centre. The exquisite charm of the villa arises from its elegant and spacious marble interior, characteristic of a bygone era. Guests enjoy the privilege of a relaxing and soothing walk along sandy paths among colourful flowerbeds and majestic trees of more than a hundred different species from around the world.
The Hotel with ten guestrooms and twenty suites is intimate and comfortable and was completely renovated in 2004, whilst retaining its traditional style reminiscent of the 1950’s. Its unique historic ambience makes the Vila a favourite retreat from everyday life.
The Hotel’s newly opened Maria Wellness Studio offers a jacuzzi, and Finnish and Turkish saunas. Guests are pampered here with relaxing massages and healing baths. The Hotel also has a tennis court and a private lido with rowing boats.
Noted for its warmth and tradition
Austrian Prince Windisch-Grätz built a beautiful mansion on the site of the present villa when the region was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Subsequently, as Bled developed into a cosmopolitan resort for the European elite, the mansion served as a summer residence of the former Yugoslav royal family from 1920. After the Second World War, the villa was rebuilt into a presidential residence of Marshal Tito, where he hosted many important international statesmen.
The villa opened as Hotel Vila Bled in 1984 and joined one of the most prestigious hotel associations, the Relais & Châteaux, only a few years later. Today, the Vila Bled is a renowned symbol of Bled and a traditional meeting place for diplomatic, political and social events.
